1. 10 Foods from the 99¢ Only Store That Are Way Ahead of the Curve on That Whole “Retro Package Design” Thing

This “Jiffy” Sugar Cookie Mix looks like it’s from…1930.
Proof of Its Modernity: Website address on box.
Where You’d Expect to See It: On a shelf in the kitchen above a stove in a “Little Rascals” short.
Buy It Because: If you don’t bake the cookies right away, you’re less likely to open the package and eat it raw in front of the TV like a slob than you would be with something sold in tube-form from Pillsbury.
    • “Quality and Value since 1930” reads the legend above the brand on a package that could likely be printed with “Same Packaging since 1930.” But that’s why you and I, we like “Jiffy.” That and the quotes around its name. And the fact that the light-colored cookies on this box are almost lost in the white background, making one wonder whether its supposed to look this way or the package got faded from sitting in the front window of the store for the last six years.
